We held our first Family 5k this past Saturday, June 23rd, at our Outpatient Facility located at Intermountain Riverton Hospital. Participants were able to walk, run, or roll the course.
There were more than 550 participants, and everyone received a T-Shirt and finisher medal to help celebrate Primary Children’s 90th anniversary.
Any participant that was a former patient of Primary Children’s received a special blue T-shirt. Given all the colors, you could really see just how many lives have been touched by the hospital. Here is what some of the runners said about the race:
“We did this race because I’m a runner, and my kids have always wanted to run a race. So I brought them because it was a family race.”
“It was the first race our family has done together, and we felt we could do it together because it was family oriented. My boys have never run a race before, but you can tell they had a great time. It’s one of the best activities Primary Children’s has ever put on. I hope you do it again.”
“I ran the race because I wanted to be with my daughter, and because I wanted to support Primary Children’s.”
I’ve been training for a 5k for the past 8 weeks — and I did it in 31minutes! I dragged the whole family with me because I didn’t want to do it by myself. It was super fun, and everyone supported me the whole way. We should do it again next year.
We had a blast. The kids made it the whole way.
We hope to organize another race next year and can hopefully accommodate even more participants. Thanks to all who participated, and a very special thanks to these organizations for their support:
