Many of Primary Children’s therapy animals took part in the annual blessing of the animals.
About a dozen therapy dogs received a special blessing from our chaplain, David Pascoe. Each dog was blessed that it can continue visiting the many patients in the hospital. They also received a certificate and a treat after the blessings.
“Remembering our pets and therapy animals in this way every year reminds us that we humans are only one small part of creation, and that we need to be good stewards of the animals who are in our care.”
- Chaplain Pascoe.
“Especially when we are sick, animals can bring us a special healing touch with their gentle, loving presence. For the children who came today, this was a way to help them connect with their pets at home who they love and miss while they are patients in our hospital.”
For some patients and employees, who didn’t have their pets with them, they had the opportunity to share a little information with Chaplain Pascoe about their pets. He then offered a blessing for them.
The annual blessing of the animals is conducted every October in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures.
