We are excited to announce that Primary Children’s Medical Center ranked 15th in the nation on Parents magazine’s annual list of the Best Children’s Hospitals.
Parents magazine crunched the numbers with guidance from medical advisors, emphasizing treatment-success rates, research studies, and doctors’ experience. Where there was a close call, they looked at how hospitals provide extra TLC for families.
They worked with the Children’s Hospital Association to conduct the survey last fall. The survey was extensive and considered more than one-thousand pieces of information. More than 60 children’s hospitals from across the country participated in the survey.
“Our goal is to always provide the best care for our patients and their families. We are continually working to improve our family support services so a patient’s stay is less stressful for parents and families.”
- Katy Welkie
Chief Executive Officer
Primary Children’s Medical Center
“This national recognition is a testament to the knowledge and outstanding ability of our team of health care professionals. Our commitment is to meet the needs of the children and families in our community, as well as provide the highest care possible.”
- Ed Clark, MD

Primary Children’s Medical Center
In addition to ranking hospitals based on their overall quality, Parents magazine also judged hospitals based on six pediatric specialty areas. We are excited that Primary Children’s Heart Center earned an impressive 8th place ranking for heart care services at a children’s hospital.
“This ranking is well-deserved recognition for all the hard work that the Heart Center staff has put into our program. Building on the legacy of clinical excellence at Primary Children’s, the Heart Center provides innovative, collaborative care to treat the most complex congenital heart disease patients.”
- Peter Gruber, MD, PhD
Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery
Primary Children’s Heart Center
These rankings recognize Primary Children’s Medical Center as one of the very best children’s hospitals in the western United States for children to receive care at.
The full results of the extensive survey will appear in the March 2013 issue of Parents magazine on newsstands nationwide on February 12th. You can also view the complete ranking on Parents magazine website.
