WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU
After 25 years at the Sandy Clinic, some of Primary Children’s Outpatient Rehabilitation team has a new second home. This week the new spaced opened for appointments and is part of Riverton Hospital’s new Outpatient Services Center.
“We’re all really excited to be in the new area,” says Annette Myers, Physical Therapist. “The Sandy Clinic has served its purpose, but it’s time for an upgrade. The Riverton space was designed specifically for us and will allow our team to better treat and care for patients.”
The new space features two gyms - one for physical therapy and one for occupational therapy. Both have plenty of room for equipment and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide lots of natural light. Additionally, there’s about a dozen treatment rooms, a kitchen, a casting room, and a large staff work area.
One of the staff’s favorite features is located outside the building. “The new therapeutic playground is a first for our facilities,” says Myra Shenk, Outpatient Rehabilitation Manager. “The playground provides a new real-life environment to treat our patients. During a therapy session, therapists and children work on different skills in our gyms. The playground allows children to try those skills in a safe, controlled place.”
“Having this broad range of services here on this campus, allows us to provide high-quality care close to home,” says Katy Welkie, CEO of Primary Children’s. “Our patients, our parents, and our staff are so happy to be here in this new building and on the Riverton campus.”
The new, four-story, 120,000-square foot center houses rheumatology, pulmonology, senior services, ophthalmology, and podiatry. It allows expansion for current services such as the lab, endoscopy, and physical therapy. Radiation Therapy and Infusion Services are also part of the new center, expanding Intermountain Healthcare’s Cancer Services to the Riverton Hospital campus.
